The focus is on the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, as well as the rib cage, with a clear, practical, and clinically oriented approach.
What is Phase 1
Phase 1 is the first step of the ISOM educational pathway.
It has been designed to build solid foundations in the biomechanical understanding of the spine, palpation, and the comprehension of the main joint dysfunctions, preparing the student for entry into the full program.

Goal of the phase
The goal of Phase 1 is to develop the first skills in osteopathic spinal assessment and in the structural approach to the musculoskeletal system, improving palpatory sensitivity, precision of technique, and basic clinical understanding.

Structural Osteopathy of the Axial System
MODULE 1
This module represents the entry point into the ISOM pathway and is dedicated to the study of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, together with the rib cage.
The student explores functional anatomy, vertebral biomechanics, and segmental assessment, developing the foundations to understand the main dysfunctions of the axial system.
Through a theoretical-practical approach, the module introduces osteopathic spinal assessment and the application of structural manual techniques, improving precision, palpatory sensitivity, and clinical safety in the management of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar pain.
Module objective: to build solid foundations in the assessment and structural osteopathic treatment of the spine and rib cage.
